Video Editor

Organizes, videotapes, and edits video productions to achieve the desired promotional and/or educational objectives. 

The Videographer/Editor may function occasionally as Producer and/or Director on video projects by evaluating project objectives and target audience, operating within program format and content to attain desired goals, and staying within budget, time, and facility limitations. The Video Editor interacts with writers, graphic designers, production crews, and other participants involved in multiple productions.


Responsibilities 

  • Meet with clients to establish the desired feel and look for the video to be created
  • Gather and transfer all forms of media into editing software and ensure each was updated in the correct format
  • Operate computer editing systems and equipment used for video media and effects
  • Establish a clear understanding of the storyline and purpose of the video's creation
  • Create an initial proposed storyboard draft of the video to present to clients and receive approval before beginning to digitally alter video
  • Improve video and sound quality using various video software
  • Edit video to include preselected music, interviews, sound clips and other important aspects of the project
  • Ensure the correct formatting and presentation for finalized videos according to client's specifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in film editing or related degree is required
  • Professional mastery of video and audio editing software and programs
  • Ability to multitask and work toward several milestones on various projects simultaneously
  • Creative experience in filmmaking and videography
  • Ability to understand the desired outcome of a project when meeting with clients and the ability to bring them to life
  • Experience editing various video projects and inserting sound effects, music and transitions
  • Proficient in creating concept boards and other visual representations of planned edits for video projects
  • Excellent communication skills are required to have a solid understanding of project scope and implementation
  • Ability to collaborate well with other creative professionals to supply clients with top-notch finalized products


Job frequently requires attendance of evening and/or weekend activities. Occasional travel for production projects, workshops, seminars and University events is required.

Blogger

  IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR Manager, Programming and Production  

  • Write fiction or nonfiction through scripts, novels, and biographies
  • Conduct research to obtain factual information and authentic detail
  • Choose subject matter that interests readers
  • Work with editors and clients to shape the material so it can be published
  • Manage the blog community by moderating and responding to comments.
  • SEO implementation
  • Handle social media marketing activities such as posting to Twitter and Facebook.
  • Answer emails on behalf of the blog.
  • Perform blog maintenance activities such as updating plugins.
  • Write content for the blog.
  • Analyze web analytics data to gauge content performance.
  • Manage split testing and other content performance tests.
  • Manage subscriptions, syndication, and email newsletters.
  • Manage guest posting requests

Camera Operator

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assembling and setting up equipment
  • Planning, preparing and rehearsing scenes
  • Following camera scripts
  • Creatively framing and capturing action
  • Responding quickly to directions
  • Liaising with lighting and technical staff.
  • Work with directors to determine all aspects of shots
  • Provide practical and creative input to scene planning
  • Select, assemble and position equipment (cameras, stands, software etc.)
  • Prepare cameras and test angles or camera movements
  • Shoot scenes according to requirements
  • Capture quality footage from a fixed or moving position
  • Collaborate with make up artists, lighting and sound staff to produce the best final effect
  • Resolve technical or practical issues
  • Edit footage as needed

Requirements

  • Proven experience as camera operator
  • Experience operating relevant equipment (cameras, cranes etc.)
  • Excellent theoretical knowledge of filming and capturing footage
  • Ability to understand and follow camera scripts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to think and act quickly
  • A Team Player
  • Attention to detail
  • Physical strength to carry heavy equipment and stamina
  • Excellent color vision and hearing
  • High school diploma; degree in film, media or relevant field is a plus

The job can be physically tiring and demanding, often requiring travel between locations and long and irregular working hours.
